The Baltimore Museum of Art is home to one of the earliest and most important collections of African art in an American art museum. African art has played a prominent role at the BMA for sixty years. In 2015, the Museum will reinstall this outstanding collection in renovated and expanded galleries dedicated solely to the arts of Africa.
These new galleries for African art will triple the space for the BMA�s celebrated collection, comprised of more than 2,000 objects whose origins range from ancient Egypt to contemporary Zimbabwe. The new presentation will include changing and thematic displays that encourage visitors to appreciate the complexity and diversity of African art and cultures.
