The In a New Light Campaign supports renovations, reinstallations, and programmatic innovations that are making The Baltimore Museum of Art more dynamic, welcoming, and memorable.

The 2012 reopening of the Contemporary Wing offered a preview of what’s to come. We are planning for creative reinstallations of the American, African, and Asian collections that incorporate new curatorial research, fresh educational perspectives, thoughtful design, and innovative technology to re-enliven these distinguished collections. The reopening of the elegant Merrick Entrance and the renovation of the Dorothy McIlvain Scott American Wing will create a lively atmosphere in front of the building. A new center for learning and creativity will serve as a platform for exploring visitor-centered, interactive, collaborative exhibition experiences throughout the Museum. The dynamic redesign of the East Wing Lobby and Zamoiski Entrance will offer visitors two options for entering the Museum along with improved amenities and an updated BMA Shop. Critical improvements to the Museum’s infrastructure include two new roofs and a state-of-the-art building automation system.

In keeping with the spirit of free admission, the BMA has remained open throughout the construction period which began in February 2011. This exciting transformation is expected to be completed in 20142015 for the BMA’s 100th anniversary.
