2011 Annual Report of
The Baltimore Museum of Art

Building for an Exciting Future

This was an exciting year for the BMA as the ambitious $24 million capital renovation project began to be realized with the hiring of Ziger/Snead Architects and the beginning of the reinstallation work on the Contemporary Art Wing. Extraordinary levels of support for the Museum’s $65 million comprehensive campaign, In a New Light: The Campaign for The Baltimore Museum of Art, included $2 million raised for the Annual Fund and nearly $500,000 in federal grants and regional foundation support for reinstallation of the Contemporary, African, and American art collections. We are very grateful for this remarkable generosity that enables the BMA to continue its commitment to this community by sustaining free admission for the fifth consecutive year, presenting critically acclaimed exhibitions, and providing many free imaginative programs for families and tours for schoolchildren. We thank all those who play an important role in our success—civic and community leaders, volunteers, and our extremely generous donors and members.
