See the BMA’s first reinstallation of its contemporary collection centered on black artistic imagination. Nearly 50 works of painting, sculpture, video, printmaking, and photography from the BMA’s permanent collection, alongside a select group of loans, foreground the critical contributions black artists have made to postwar visual art.

HITCHING THEIR DREAMS

Hitching Their Dreams to Untamed Stars brings together 10 artworks—quilts, beaded and glass sculptures, weavings, and more—made separately or in collaboration by MacArthur award-winner Joyce J. Scott and her mother, renowned fabric artist Elizabeth Talford Scott.
